Hello Everyone,

I have updated the page for the "2013 Fall Latin Masses for Solemnities and Feast Days in the Archdiocese of Toronto" with new information on another upcoming Solemn Latin Mass in the Archdiocese of Toronto.

The new entry is being organized by the St. Patrick's Gregorian Choir at a new Mass site .... The Newman Centre at the University of Toronto! I am quite pleased at this, as I have a number of good Catholic friends who are part of the Centre's vibrant ministry towards young adults! Believe me, this is exactly the right place to expose such a treasure as the Latin Mass. I have attended a number of their retreats and events over the last few years, and I've covered a couple of their events in the past, attended by my fellow "Newmanites" here:

http://torontotlmserving.blogspot.ca/2012/10/cardinal-collins-at-newman-center-for.html - Adoration and Benediction with His Eminence, Cardinal Thomas Collins

http://torontotlmserving.blogspot.ca/2013/03/reflection-march-8-10-retreat-with.html - A weekend retreat I went on with the talks covering John Paul II's work, the Theology of the Body

There are a number of great social, spiritual, and other events going on in this place, and it really is making a difference, as it is reaching out to Catholic youth on the U of T Campus ... and these youth are the ones going to Sunday Mass, helping out in their parishes, being solid and orthodox in the faith .... and even a number of my acquaintances have expressed interest in the Latin Mass, with a few actually going to some!

Here are the details, though you can also find them in the 2013 link:

CRITICAL NOTE: This Mass occurs on the Sunday and WILL fulfill your Sunday obligation to attend a valid and licit Catholic Mass (Liturgy). You do NOT NEED to attend another Catholic Mass that day if you attend the Latin Mass.
  • St. Thomas Aquinas Parish at the Newman Centre at University of Toronto, Toronto, ON

So please "save the date" in your calendars for this Mass and if you are in the Archdiocese of Toronto, do attend!.

ATTENTION: Latin Mass Transfer in Kinkora, ON to London, ON for Latin Mass in Kitchener-Waterloo-London Area

Hello Everyone.

While I do not frequently cover the outskirts of the Archdiocese or other dioceses' efforts for the purposes of this blog, "start-ups" and, may the Lord forbid them, closings of Latin Mass efforts, should be duly noted for the sake of documentation and making it known we care, regardless of area of the diocese.

In addition, I know some of you, be you university students who travel to London area universities for your education, or some of you from this diocese, travel(ed) to the Latin Mass in Kinkora on occasion or during your academic year.

From the Facebook page of Vox Cantoris (a.k.a. David Domet, choirmaster of Toronto Traditional Mass Society), comes this highly important update:

"Effective July 1, the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite will cease at St. Patrick's Kinkora in the Diocese of London."

" However, Bishop Ronald Fabbro has long desired that the Mass be in a more permanent location in the seat of the Diocese, the City of London."

"Therefore: the celebration of the Extraordinary Form of the Mass will be transferred to London, Ontario. New location: John Paul II High School Chapel. New time: Each Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

beginning in September it will be permanently celebrated at Regina Mundi. College (High School Chapel)."

"Coordinator: Fr. Paul Nicholson (assisted by: Fr. John Johnson, Fr. Ross Bartley, Fr. Tom Ferrera, Fr. Ray Lawhead, and Fr. Theo Pinto). That's right six, SIX diocesan priests from the Diocese of London will celebrate the Holy Mass on a rotation. It will continue to be a full Sung Mass and the opportunity will now arise for Solemn Mass on occasion. The TTMS-UNA VOCE TORONTO gives thanks to the LORD for the blessings of Father Nicholson and these priests of the Diocese and especially to Bishop Ronald Fabbro for his pastoral care of the 100 people who attend at Kinkora weekly, many who travel from over 1 hour away, including the City of London."

This is likely because Fr. Paul Nicholson has been allowed to have a similar or the same type of online/in-person ministry as well known priest, Fr. Robert Barron of the "Catholicism" DVD series that has been shown in many different parishes. Fr. Nicholson has a website that is under development but will expand to include more content (hopefully), here: www.fatherpaulnicholson.com

Please pass on the information to those attendees in the Kitchener-Waterloo-London area, or whom are known to attend the masses here on occasions.

Gaia Mass update on Vox Cantoris. I Knew That There was too Much Hoopla too Begin With on this ...

Hello Everyone,

So remember that Gaia Mass that I was talking about? Turns out it was a false Alarm in a major sense, but it's still a bit concerning. A hat tip/credit is given to Vox Cantoris (a.k.a. David Domet of the Toronto Traditional Mass Society) for the update on the matter. The link provides more additional details.

Turns out in summary:
- It's an actual concert, not a Mass with liturgical dance and accompanying hymns
- The Diocese did get brought this to their attention by more than just Vox. They did assess the situation and did take down their posting from the Events page as a result of their investigation.
- The concerts are still going on as planned from Cardinal Carter.

Anyways, the question still remains who made the event on the Archdiocese webpage and turned it from a concert to a full blown Gaia Mass in the announcement. Other than that, that's all folks, and the crisis that could have been, wasn't as crazy at it was portrayed to be. If any of you did write the archdiocese, thank you for aiding them and bringing this to their attention. You were valuable and made things happen for the Lord. May we laity continue to help the Church and the Archdiocese in its pastoral mission to shepherd the flock (that is, us).

Small update: Small Report From Toronto Traditional Mass Society Immaculate Conception Mass

Hello Everyone.

This past Saturday, December the 8, 2012, it was the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This is in BOTH forms of the Roman rite, the Novus Ordo and Extraordinary Form/The Latin Mass.

One of the lay-organized Latin Mass initiatives, Toronto Traditional Latin Mass (formerly Una Voce Toronto) organized a Solemn Latin Mass in the Extraordinary Form in Mississauga at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Here is the brief report from the president and choirmaster, David Anthony Domet with regard to the Mass, from their face book group page:

"Nearly 500 at the Solemn Mass for Our Lady's Immaculate Conception today at St. Joseph's, Streetsville organised with the assistance of Una Voce Toronto and the Knights of Columbus. After Mass a woman went up to the Pastor and said, "Father, can this happen more often, I thought that I was in heaven." Father replied, "My dear, that is exactly the point." And that friends, after honouring God is why we do this, to edify His people! Our Lady Immaculate, pray for us."

Here is a picture of the three clergy members from the Mass and perhaps what is the Master of Ceremonies, also from their Facebook page:

One can find the link to the Facebook group page, and more information including contact information for the president/organization under my "known Latin mass listings ..." tab on the right. The Facebook page name is "Latin Mass Toronto" though don't let that confuse you.

If anyone else would like to submit a more detailed report/pictures, feel free to send me an e-mail at the listed address in the "contact" page on the right of my main page.
