LAST ANNOUCNEMENT FOR SOLEMN LATIN MASS FOR CHRIST THE KING AT ST. MICHAEL`S CATHEDRAL BASILICA THIS SUNDAY OCTOBER 30TH 2PM WITH HIS EMINENCE CARDINAL COLLINS PRESENT AND AS HOMILIST!

FINAL ANNOUNCEMENT FOR CHRIST THE KING SOLEMN LATIN MASS AT ST MICHAEL`S CATHEDRAL BASILICA, 2PM, THIS SUNDAY OCTOBER 30TH!

Hello everyone,

As announced previously, the upcoming weekend will have the blessing of a Solemn Latin Mass/Extraordinary Form Mass, taking place in our Archdiocese of Toronto's St. Michael's Cathedral Basilica! It will take place this Sunday, at 2pm, at St. Michael's in Toronto, ON, Canada.

Preparations have been taking place as the time draws closer to the day. I, your author and blogger, alongside a good number of other laymen, will be joining 7 awesome seminarians on the altar as well as three priests, or two priests and a deacon, in this Sacred Mass organized by St. Patrick's Gregorian Choir, in commemoration of their 10th anniversary.

For the serving end of the Mass, we have been in two major practices, the last being at the Cathedral Basilica this wednesday evening, with all seminarians and laymen present. Hence the photos taken above and below inside this magnificent building, the capital "flagship" of our Archdiocese.

As for the musical end, practices have gone underway, and our professional choirmaster and organist, Surinder S. Mundra, has been attending to all necessary preparations leading up to that glorious day.

I hope that many of you will attend and spread the word, despite only being a few days away.

For more coverage concerning the Mass, please see my original posting HERE

There is also a facebook page for the St. Patrick's Gregorian Choir, with the event page being here: https://www.facebook.com/events/683222405175712/

Coverage of the event has also been broad-casted on Traditionalist Blogs/news portals the New Liturgical Movement, Rorate Caeli, and Fr. John Zuhlsdorf's WDTPRS blog.

Also, for any new comers/1st timers to the Latin Mass, you may want to browse my Question and Answers pages, which you will find under the "Collection of My Latin Mass ..." tab at the top of the blog pages. I just recently added a section about decorum (behaviour) and dress for the Latin Mass, though it should be for all Masses in any rite of the Church. You will find other guides, such as when to do responses and actions, how to use a hand missal or Mass booklet (of which St. Patrick's will be supplying a limited number for the Mass, first come first serve so arrive early!) etc.

May you be there on Sunday.

Deo Gratias, and Pax, Tibi Christ, Julian Barkin.

Hello Everyone,

May it be my pleasure to announce to you, better late than never, that St. Patrick's Gregorian Choir will be doing its annual Christ the King Latin Mass! This will be the 8th anniversary of the formation of the Choir, who came together on this feast day in 2006.

Though it will be slightly different than other years, it will nonetheless be a blessed and lovely liturgy in the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite.

________________________________________________________________________
Hello Everyone,

I have updated the page for the "2013 Fall Latin Masses for Solemnities and Feast Days in the Archdiocese of Toronto" with new information on another upcoming Solemn Latin Mass in the Archdiocese of Toronto.

The new entry is being organized by the St. Patrick's Gregorian Choir at a new Mass site .... The Newman Centre at the University of Toronto! I am quite pleased at this, as I have a number of good Catholic friends who are part of the Centre's vibrant ministry towards young adults! Believe me, this is exactly the right place to expose such a treasure as the Latin Mass. I have attended a number of their retreats and events over the last few years, and I've covered a couple of their events in the past, attended by my fellow "Newmanites" here:

http://torontotlmserving.blogspot.ca/2012/10/cardinal-collins-at-newman-center-for.html - Adoration and Benediction with His Eminence, Cardinal Thomas Collins

http://torontotlmserving.blogspot.ca/2013/03/reflection-march-8-10-retreat-with.html - A weekend retreat I went on with the talks covering John Paul II's work, the Theology of the Body

There are a number of great social, spiritual, and other events going on in this place, and it really is making a difference, as it is reaching out to Catholic youth on the U of T Campus ... and these youth are the ones going to Sunday Mass, helping out in their parishes, being solid and orthodox in the faith .... and even a number of my acquaintances have expressed interest in the Latin Mass, with a few actually going to some!

Here are the details, though you can also find them in the 2013 link:

CRITICAL NOTE: This Mass occurs on the Sunday and WILL fulfill your Sunday obligation to attend a valid and licit Catholic Mass (Liturgy). You do NOT NEED to attend another Catholic Mass that day if you attend the Latin Mass.
  • St. Thomas Aquinas Parish at the Newman Centre at University of Toronto, Toronto, ON

So please "save the date" in your calendars for this Mass and if you are in the Archdiocese of Toronto, do attend!.

Pax Tibi Christi, Julian Barkin.

The church is located at 131 McCaul Street, Toronto, near Dundas St. W. and University Avenue, downtown. The closest subway station is St. Patrick's station. Please confirm your attendance, and should the church be locked at or after 630pm, please call my cell number provided on the attached poster for this practice.

Please attend this practice, especially if you are interested in serving for the St. Patrick's Gregorian Choir Solemn Latin Mass to take place on the last Sunday of October, for their annual Christ the King Mass.

In addition, if there is a young man, or another practicing Catholic gentleman in your life, whom you think would be interested, please pass along this information and the poster to them, or your parish, and have them contact me through my e-mail and/or my number provided in the poster.

Thank you, and Pax Tibi Christi, Julian Barkin.
