Happy Anniversary Papa Francesco! 2 Years Since Elected

Hello Everyone.

Two years ago yesterday, Papa Francesco, (a.k.a. Jorge Bergoglio) ascended to the Seat of the Papacy in the Catholic Church.

Since coming to terms, although he hasn't been too keen on the Latin Mass, he has said and done a number of things. Particularly, no pope in history has been releasing their daily homilies, or at least summaries of, for public consumption. Thankfully he's defended its existence and will not aborgate Summorum Pontificum!

While Pope Benedict XVI is my favourite pope for what he did for liturgy and Tradition in the Church, I do admire the Pope in numerous ways. From putting showers in the Vatican so the poor can have some sense of human dignity instead of obvious body odour, to the numerous fervorinos/mini homilies he has stated to take us away from our self-centered and prideful hearts, he is certainly applying a pastoral approach to the Pontificate.

Aside from the usual jabs at his Argentinian background and socio-theological upbringing, should we actually heed his words instead of accusing him as the anti-Christ or injecting evil into the Church, and give him considerate analysis of his words, one might find that he is teaching us how to progress in the future with the Church, especially with regards to the Trads. It's likely closer to Christ's example in the Gospel's than one would think.

Sadly, it seems that the Radicals Misrepresenting Traditionalists have chosen to harden their hearts more, at least online in the "Traddie" "c"atholic blogosphere, and the Pope is being rejected. Nothing he says can make them happy. Oh what little faith exists for Holy Mother Church and the Holy Spirit who guides Her! Guys wake up, the mainstream media and liberals are starting to turn on him now.

Regardless, I'll be at least one "Glad Trad" that actually salutes and acknowledges his pontifical anniversary.

Please pray for His Holiness, that he may continue on his journey and that the Holy Spirit guides and preserves him, for however long he stays in the Papacy. May he continue to bring us back to where we should be in our Faith lives and be defended from the assaults of Satan and his minions.

ANNUM PRIMUM, EST FINIS! Happy Blog-o-versary on Servimus Unum Deum + The Feast of St. Michael the Archangel (& Gabriel and Raphael in N.O)

Hello Everyone.

Well, I can't believe this, but this blog, this little labour of love for the Latin Mass from an altar server's perspective, is one year old. It was on Sept 29th last year that I decided to plunge ahead with this blog, to begin the journey of blogging on tips and run-throughs of altar serving in the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite, and give coverage to other Latin Mass efforts in the Archdiocese of Toronto that were not getting equal or additional coverage. Now, a number of serving posts exists, with others in progress, other areas of Traditional Catholicism, and even the Novus Ordo at times have been covered. Since inception, I`ve reached Over 25000K pageviews! I never thought this niche blog would get that in a year.

Tomorrow is also special besides this anniversary for another reason. This weekend, we arrive at a big feast day in the Church, which the Archdiocese of Toronto under His Eminence, Thomas Cardinal Collins, has ordered to be celebrated superseding the normal Sunday Ordoes. In the Novus Ordo and the EF in other areas of the world, this would be the 26th Sunday in Ordinary Time or the Eighteenth Sunday after Pentecost. This Sunday, he declared that the Feast of St. Michael and its associated readings be used as the Ordo for this Sunday. This is, to my understanding, for a number of reasons:

• To coincide with the ongoing implementation of the Pastoral Plan to enhance the Archdiocese of Toronto
• To coincide with the Year of Faith that has been promulgated by the Vatican
• Because St. Michael is the Patron saint of this Archdiocese, and is whom our Cathedral is named after
• Because we need his intercession in this time of our lives as Catholics.  

I`ll admit, that the reasons above aren`t official, but are what I can arrive at to my understanding. Personally I am not too keen on the idea of non-1st class (EF lingo) feast days/Solemnities of Saints superseding the normal Sunday Mass Ordo (cause I`m more of a rules and order person), which breaks from the ``universality`` of the Catholic Church (where wherever you go, you are supposed to get the same Mass, with the same ordo). Despite this snafoo, I`m pleased it was St Michael`s feast being the one to be chosen. Being a proud graduate of St. Michael`s College School, having been raised on the school Hymn to St. Michael, the SMCS tradition, and the like, it is great that I get to share a teensy little space next to this awesome feast and saint.

For now, as long as I continue to be involved with Latin Mass serving, the Servimus Unum Deum blog will continue onward in its 2nd year, and may under the patronage of St. Michael and through his intercession, that the Latin Mass may proliferate and grow in Catholic, positive, and Christ-centered means; may also the great commander of all the angels, continue to defend us from the spiritual assaults of the Evil One, whom he banished to Hell in the Great War in Heaven.
